Greetings to all!
First of all, I must give a "Big Shout-out" for the tears from Heaven "Rain"! Thank you, Lord, for the generous serving of rain you sent to us on Monday and Tuesday evening. Not only was it refreshing for us, but our yards and fields were awfully thirsty and if they could talk, I feel sure they would be thanking You also. It had not rained at my house for thirty days. Looking out I the yard and fields made me sad. It almost looked like a dessert, very dry, dead grass. It is truly a blessing to have You taking care and watching over us. You always know what we need and when we need it. Sometimes You put us to the test and make us wait until the time is right. We have to be reminded who is "Boss" around here and You have a way of bringing us to our knees. You are an awesome God.
Being back at school was good last week. I worked every day. The students were as glad to see me as I was to see them. Seems they had a great summer and are ready to get back to see their school friends.
The youth and children had fun at the "Back to School Bash" on a Saturday on the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church grounds. The fun began with a time of water sliding and games. Several adults took a turn to cool off also. Everyone sat around visiting under the tents while the grilling took place. Homemade ice cream and good ole Washington Parish watermelons were enjoyed before the meal was ready. Bro. David brought a brief devotion and voiced the blessing for the food in the fellowship hall. Hot dogs, hamburgers with all the trimmings, chips, dips, cake and cookies were enjoyed by all. After eating the children enjoyed more fun before going home. W was happy and delighted to see and get a wet hug from several of my MHS students that were there. A big crowd was in attendance including children, youth, adults and guests.
During last Sunday morning service, the Fall Food Round-up for the La. Baptist Children's Home was promoted. I handed out a list of items they are in much need of. By the way, a box is available for the food. I will carry the collection to Clifton Baptist Church on Sunday night, September 17th. Thank you in advance.
I want to say the homegrown tomatoes I got from Tim Sumrall were wonderful. I had a juicy delicious tomato sandwich everyday until they were all gone. I did share with some of my friends. The best $25 I've spent in a long time. Believe it or not, some days I had the second sandwich including a sliced onion and crispy bacon.
It was great talking with my friend Elaine Passman. We exchanged highlights of our recent vacations. She visited with her brother who lives in Michigan and had a good visit. My vacation was a nine-day trip on Diamond Tours to Colorado. I will share more later.
Heartfelt sympathy is sent out to the dear families of loved ones who have died. Pray for the family of Beau Bowman, 29, my distant cousin who died August 8th and great-grandson of my Uncle Herman and Aunt Betty Ingram; to the family of Levi Sumrall, 69, of Franklinton; and the family of Billie Frances Crain Stafford, 89, of Franklinton. Our prayers are with you.
Please pray for those who are sick, lonely and shut-ins in our community and surrounding area.
