Greetings to all my faithful readers! I'm happy to visit all of you once again. We're still having summer weather, but at least the temperature is not quite as hot as it has been. Before you know it, our weather will be cooler and then the cold weather-freezing. Oh my! As the old saying is "some like it hot and some like it cold". We all will eventually get our favorite weather. Let's hang in there and make the best of it.
Since we are collecting the State Mission Offering, I would like to share with you how the offering began and how it got its name. Georgia Barnett was the first elected and paid WMU Executive Director/Treasurer in Louisiana. She worked tirelessly to help women begin WMU Circles for one purpose - to pray for and give to missions. She worked with state convention leaders, leading women to begin an annual offering in 1907, to support state missionaries. In 1936 the offering was named in her honor. Georgia Barnette traveled by boat, pirogue, horse and buggy and train from in New Orleans to visit state missionaries who were beginning churches among the French, Indian and Anglo cultures of our state. Her love for Louisiana and her desire to see every life in Louisiana impacted by the Gospel is an example to Louisiana Baptist today as we pray for, give to and do missions here in our state. Please help us meet the needs of our state missionaries. What will your offering be?

Uncle Fred Scott celebrated his birthday on Sunday, September 3rd. Some of the students and I took the opportunity to wish him happy birthday on Friday at school, two days before. We sang to him and he was surprised and loved it. The next week, I carried him a birthday treat - brownies.
Happy belated birthday to Mrs. Grace Muffet. Her birthday was last Thursday, September 14th and she was 93 years young. Your friend, Richard was bragging on you. I heard you have a talent playing Bingo and win regularly. I think you are an awesome lady. Keep up the good work loving and caring for others.
We have several on the prayer list. I'm adding Dennis Story and Dr. Jerry Thomas to the list. Join me in prayer tor these and others who are sick and have lost loved ones. Also pray for Ms. Janice Schilling who has been in the hospital.
Thought for the week! Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
