Happy Thanksgiving Greetings to you all! Tomorrow, November 23rd is Thanksgiving Day. I pray you have a blessed day gathering with your family for lunch or suppers whatever it might be. God's blessings to each of you. We should be thankful everyday throughout the year, not just on Thanksgiving.
Celebrating November Birthdays are Diamond Pouncey and her son Teagin, Tanna Brumfield, Debra Norman, Dawn Riley, Liz Ring, Rocky Burch, Sherman Burch, T.J. White, Chris Hill, Mary Rogers, Melissa Bankston Corkern, Clementine Wells, Dedrea Griffin, De Randa Griffin, Jamie Mier, Kacy Farias, Halley Rowell, Alana Goings, Alsha Magee, Lyden Pardee, and Mrs. Kelly Smith. Happy Birthday to you all.
Several Mt. Hermon School students entered exhibits and won ribbons at the fair. Some rode in the fair parade on Wednesday and preformed on the main stage Thursday. They all did an outstanding job, and we are very proud of you. Congratulations to all of you. Thank you, Ms. LaHoma Vernon, for all you do at MHS.
5th graders that entered exhibits in the fair are the following. Bentle Hebert: art "a red panda" oil pastel won a red ribbon, Braiton Rogers: art "smoke Browl III" & colored pencil won a white ribbon, Grace Anne Stephens: original art "Bandana" won a red ribbon, Jordan Mallon: art "Hawkins" & colored pencil won a red ribbon, Londyn LaCour: writing "the day my dog and I went to play" and art drawing "dolphin" both won red ribbons, and Rusty Smith: entered his rabbit and blueberry muffins and won blue ribbons.
Other fair contestants include the following: Ashdyn Stafford (3rd grade): art "trees" won 4th place, Helyna Vince (4th grade): story "Fairies in the woods" won 1st place, Paige Brook (4th grade): art "the funny animal" placed 3rd, Davey Dillon (8th grade): art "red bird" placed 1st, Kari Travis (8th grade): paper flowers placed 1st & placed 3rd on painting, Katherine Quin: nonfiction writing & poem won 1st, and Brooklyn Falgout: fiction won blue ribbon.
I entered an exhibit in the homemaker's building and crops this year. Mr. Henry Harrison always looks forward to seeing me with my exhibits every year. This year he was a little disappointed; I only had a pumpkin, but I received a blue ribbon. I had some baking, canning, Christmas items, and a small throw quilt. I got 10 blue ribbons, 7 red ribbons, and 7 white ones. There were some of the biggest pumpkins I had ever seen entering the crops building. You can see all kinds of unusual items in there. I sure do miss having all these nice fresh vegetables from dad's garden to enter into the fair.
A Thanksgiving Thought! Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good to us and keeps us in His care. I pray you have a blessed Thanksgiving. Enjoy being with your family and some good ole home cooking. Only one thing to consider: don't eat too much! Ha Ha!
