Playoff Game of the Week - 3 Oak Grove (10-2) at 2 Kentwood (10-2). The D-IV non select playoffs feature a rematch from 2022 of these two teams playing again in one of the most historic and iconic high school stadiums in Louisiana. Last season Oak Grove came in to Kentwood and slipped by the Kangaroos as they used their large quarterback as a battering ram in the second half to impose their will. Kentwood was hampered by two very critical turnovers inside the ten yard line which may have been the difference in the game. It certainly was a difference early in the game.
Oak Grove went on to win the state championship and Kentwood has been dreaming of a rematch. They got it.
Winner goes to the 'Dome and in this sportswriters opinion will have the edge in the championship game due to having played in this high caliber game.
Should be a good one.
Notes and Quotes
Lafayette Christian Academy quarterback Ju'Juan Johnson has broken Evangel's Brock Berlin's record for total offensive yards with 13,662. Berlin had held the record since 1999. Johnson still has at least one more game to play as the LCA Knights are playing in the semi finals this Friday. He needs just four touchdowns to set a new all time LHSAA touchdown record.
Berlin still holds the total passing yardage record. The total offensive yards record adds rushing yards which includes sack yards. Berlin rarely ran the ball so most of his rushing yardage is sack yardage and thus subtracted for the total offensive record.

The Franklinton High School basketball tournament will be held this week at FHS beginning on Wednesday November 29 through December 2.
Girls and boys teams from Franklinton, Pine, Varnado, Mt Hermon, Sumner, Hammond, Lakeshore and Amite will participate.
The Franklinton boys will play Amite at 7:30 Wednesday. Both FHS girls and boys will play Varnado beginning at 7pm Thursday. Pine girls and boys will play Sumner beginning at 4:40pm Thursday. Friday at 7pm the FHS girls and boys will play the Pine teams. On Saturday the Pine boys will play the Lakeshore boys at 1pm.
