An Interesting Phone Call
Last Wednesday, I received a call from one of our Faithful readers and when I said hello," he said "you have my birthday." I said "excuse me" and he said we share the same birthday." I said, well you were born June 29, and he laughed and said sure was.
He proceeded to tell me he was born on June 29, 1930 making him 93 years old. He stated that he had a dream telling him that he will live to be 100. In the year of 1932 at the Washington Parish Free Fair he was crowned the Best (Cutest) Colored Baby in that division and it's been on since then. He has held many jobs during his time. He was the first black Bell South Telephone Technician which he did for 37 years. He's filled with history, wisdom, and humor. He had just finished canning squash, peas, and corn. He feels like he has to be busy at all times.
Mr. Hayward Partman, your phone call was unexpected and a welcomed pleasure. I wish I could remember much more of your journey to 93 --- maybe another time. Through all of that, I agree I do have your birthday. I pray your birthday was as blessed as you are. It's a pleasure when our readers reach out and let us know that they are faithful readers of our articles. Thanks for the encouragement and enjoying our writing. May God continue to bless you all.
