Last Wednesday (August 12) Franklinton police officers responded to a disturbance involving Tally Starling.
Officers learned the disturbance stemmed from an ongoing personal dispute involving a prior relationship and money allegedly owed. Starling was formally advised that she was criminally trespassing on the property and could be arrested if she returned. She was also advised that the dispute over money appeared to be a civil matter and that continued harassment could result in criminal charges.
Later that same day, officers responded to a second disturbance involving Starling and several people at a local business. Surveillance video showed Starling operating a Dodge Charger and aggressively accelerating toward a group of females on three separate occasions. During the third acceleration, the vehicle struck one person.
Officers placed Starling under arrest, during which she refused commands to place her hands behind her back, physically resisted officers, and initially refused to enter the patrol vehicle.
She was ultimately secured and transported to the Washington Parish Jail, where she was turned over to jail personnel while officers completed the necessary booking paperwork. Due to a high volume of police calls for service occurring during the same time period, completion of the booking paperwork took longer than usual.
While officers were completing the necessary arrest paperwork, they learned that Starling had been released from the Washington Parish Jail. She was subsequently located after she contacted 911 and requested transportation home because her vehicle had been removed following the earlier incident.
When Franklinton officers approached her, she attempted to walk away and resisted efforts to take her back into custody. During the struggle, an officer sustained a minor injury. Starling was returned to the Franklinton Police Department and subsequently transported back to the Washington Parish Jail without further incident.
Starling was booked on charges of four counts of Resisting an Officer, Simple Battery on a Police Officer, and False Communication with Intent to Cause Emergency Response, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and one count of aggravated battery.
