This past Friday, Lindsey M. Dykes, 32, of Jenkins Road north of Franklinton, was found guilty on all four counts brought against him, including Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile.
The verdict was returned by a jury late Friday afternoon following a four-day trial in the courtroom of District Judge William H. (Billy) Burris.
Dykes was found guilty on the following four counts:
Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile; Production of Child Pornography of a Juvenile; Possession of a Firearm by a Felon Convicted of Certain Felonies (Dykes was previously convicted of attempted simple rape); and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Zack Popovich and Le'Anne Malnar. The case was investigated through a joint effort by Detective Dana Atkins with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, FBI Agent Terrence Smith, and Detective Demi Rice with the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.
“This guilty verdict is a testament to the dedication of our Assistant District Attorneys, and the courage of the victims and witnesses who bravely came forward,” said District Attorney Collin Sims. “We are committed to seeking justice for every child victim in St. Tammany and Washington parishes, and we will continue to hold accountable those who commit heinous crimes against the most vulnerable members of our community.”
After the guilty verdict was announced, Dykes was returned to the Washington Parish Jail, where he has been held since his arrest on May 5 of this year. His sentencing has been scheduled for February 11, 2026.
