2025 has been a rough start with so many tragedies already. It is hard to comprehend why things happen the way they do or how people can do such evil things to others. My heart is absolutely broken for the families and friends of those killed and injured on Bourbon St. New Year’s Day. Those who are hurting due to loss of family, friends, and children already this year is just too much to comprehend. Please pray for those who are hurting at this time.
December 31, 2024, Annalise and I were in New Orleans (not having a clue what would transpire in the city less than 24 hours later) for her to complete her Senior Project Job Shadowing. It was an EARLY morning for us to arrive at WWL TV Channel 4 News Station before 5 am. She was able to job shadow Franklinton native Mike McDaniel on set and meet others like Brandon Walker, Brooke Laizer, Leigha McNeil, and one of our favorites of the day Mr. Walter.
Chef Kevin Belton was on vacation, but we were able to meet the owner of Drago’s, and he also made the most amazing lump crab dip, it had a fancy name I don’t recall, and lump crab grilled cheeses! It was definitely worth waking up so early!) Watching the news at home is so very different than seeing it in person. I am so grateful to Mike and all of the amazing people we met. Now Annalise has been able to see every part of what it takes from reporting to camera to digital editing, to media, to production, and so on.
Please remember to wash your hands and cover your cough/sneeze. RSV, Flu, and a mean Stomach Bug are running rampant right now. That goes for adults and kids as well. If you have kiddos, please make sure to wash the hats, jackets, mittens, and if possible, wash backpacks, or at least wipe them down really well. Goodness knows none of us want to deal with that crud.

February 28th the Youth of Enon Baptist Church will have a Lock In. January 19th will be a Gumbo to Go Sale after church for the Youth. Veggie sales will start this month and pick up will be late February. Blessing of Food will be January 16th and 17th. There will be a Gift Card Wedding Shower honoring Kacie Reid, bride to be of Mason Inabnitt on January 25th from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at the Varnado Store Museum Annex.
The Enon Library will have Popcorn, Pete the Cat, and Pink Panther on Thursdays after school for the month of January. January 9th from 7:30 am to 2 pm will be the Terry Morgan Memorial Blood Drive. It will be held at the Franklinton Elementary School Front Gymnasium. Appointments are encouraged, but Walk-Ins are welcome! Please donate blood and/or platelets if you can.
