At this moment Gracie is on a plane over Canada on her way home from Ireland. I am sure I will have more information for next week’s column, but I feel like this was an amazing opportunity for Gracie that may lead to more trips. If I could talk myself into it, I would love to go with her next summer if she decides to go back. The people of Ireland have her heart for sure, and I am intrigued by them.
In my humble opinion most of the people of Ireland (I say this with love, wishing I could help change this) are hurt by religion. Religion there is basically political, and you are either Protestant or Catholic. It is like God isn’t even in the equation. If they could feel and see the LOVE of God and know that is all that truly matters, I feel life would be so much better. Their country is lovely and wonderful, but the people there are hurting. (This is only my opinion and observations of Gracie’s trip)
August 6th the kids of Enon Baptist Church will have a Zona Back-2-School Bash. It will be from 5:30 pm to 7 pm. Parents must sign their children in and out.
Preparations have already begun for the Washington Parish Fair Parade. If you would like to help, please contact Mrs. Alice or Mrs. Christy. They will be taking up donations for suckers and non-chocolate candy as well.
Sunday, we had the blessing of backpacks (or keys, purses, id’s, etc) for the students, teachers, principals, bus drivers, paras, janitors, etc as students start back to school on August 7th.
Happy birthday to Noah Burch, Karl Casanova, Belinda Jones Morales, Suzy Thigpen, and Ragen Chauvin Spears.
Condolences to the families of one of our amazing Washington Parish Educators Dana Harvey (she was a wonderful person to work and hang out with, she had the best laugh and fabulous smile), Lenora Knight, Mardie Hodges, Betty Knight Carr, Sybil Gilmore, Brad Henry, and Wayne King.
If your daughter is interested in joining the American Heritage Girls Troop, there will be an Ice Cream Social at Plainview Baptist Church on August 12th from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Both of my daughters were members and enjoyed it very much!
Thank you to the gentlemen of the Masonic Lodge from Enon and Pine who provided lunch for us at Enon Elementary on Friday. It was a wonderful meal and great to visit with y’all.

The Enon Library had a wonderful time with their first Lego Fun Time last week! Take a look at their Facebook Page to see when the next time is for Scrabble, Legos, and other after school activities.
I hope you all have a wonderful week. Make sure those kiddos get a good night’s sleep! (and your adults too haha) I will be heading to the airport to pick up Gracie in just a little while! Until next time……
