NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A 27-year-old New Orleans man is accused of shooting his 1-year-old son on New Year’s Day.
Corey R. Davis was arrested Sunday on charges including attempted murder and cruelty to a juvenile, police said in a news release.
It was not clear whether he has an attorney who could speak for him.
Police said officers were called about 3 p.m. Saturday to a hospital where the baby had been driven in a private vehicle. Investigators learned that the shooting had taken place near the riverfront a few blocks from the French Quarter, at Decatur and Spain streets, and later identified Davis as the suspect.
He was arrested on charges of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree cruelty to a juvenile, domestic abuse aggravated assault, aggravated criminal damage to property, felon in possession of a firearm, illegal use of a weapon and vehicle theft, police said.
