Game of the Week - Franklinton (0-0) at Amite (0-0) Franklinton edged the Warriors last season and the Warriors don't want that to happen again. Having to dig out of that 0-1 hole to start the season is always hard.
The Demons will look to clean up some stuff and work on improving their run game against the always stout Warrior's defense.
Look for both teams to come out fired up and it very well could come down to who wants it more.
Should be a good one.
Notes and quotes
"Our kids played with a lot of effort (vs Mandeville). We simply made too many mistakes. The turnovers in the red zone were obviously critical. We showed the ability to move the ball, but were inconsistent. Our struggles in the run game are very limiting. Defensively, I thought we did some good things. They only scored one offensive touchdown. One was a blocked punt and the other was a pick six. So, we have to get those things cleaned up quickly. We just have to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. The good thing for us is that we do have the ability to throw the ball and I thought there were a lot of positives defensively."
---Nick Saltaformaggio,
Franklinton head coach.
"I thought our defense played as well as they could. Our special teams put the defense in some tough spots and we only gave up three points. Twice they got the ball on our thirty due to special teams. I thought there were some bright spots on the offense but penalties hurt us. Penalties and special teams must get cleaned up this week."
---Bradley Seal, Pine head coach.
"Warren Easton was very talented, definitely going to be the most talented team we will see at any point all year. They are a 5A team who plays in a very tough district with teams like Edna Karr, John Curtis and St Aug. Their level of play and game speed was something that our kids have never seen before. Playing against a high caliber team in the jamboree helps expose kids to a faster game speed and a different level of play. The team we will play isn't going to be a Warren Easton, but hopefully we match the physicality and level of play that we were exposed to this past week!"
---Vonta Owens, Varnado head coach.
"Was a tough night but our players showed a lot of fight. We have a young tough group. I told the guys when we put it together, we're going to be a solid group. I like our group!"
---Dean King, Bowling Green head coach.
"We beat Mentorship 28-6. Played well in areas but we have a couple of weak spots on the offensive line we have to get better."
---Cole Holden, Central Private head coach.
