The Franklinton Demons baseball team went 1-2 during the week last week as they defeated neighboring Pine before falling to E.D. White and East Ascension all on the road. The Demons now hold an 8-7 record and will play Hannan on Wednesday at home and on Friday on the road to kick off district action. The Demons will travel to Pearl River on Tuesday March 18, also in district action.
Against the Pine Raiders on Monday evening the Demons fell behind 3-0 after the fourth inning. The Raiders used three hits and a base on balls to take that lead.
The Demons stormed back in the fifth with four runs to take a 4-3 lead as they used a hit, a hit batter, two errors and three base on balls.
The Raiders answered in the bottom of the fifth to regain the lead at 5-4. The Demons again responded to take a big lead at 12-5 in the top of the sixth. The lead couldn't be overcome and the Demons won 12-5.
Bryce Barber was the starting pitcher for the Demons and pitched four innings with five strike outs, one walk and allowed four hits. Rick Songy pitched two innings allowing one hit and striking out two. Jordy Thomassen pitched one inning allowing one hit and striking out one.
For the Raiders, McCormick was the starting pitcher going four innings with two hits, three base on balls and five strikeouts. Kylon Magee pitched one and one third innings with five base on balls, one strikeout and one hit. Trace Steele pitched one and two third innings allowing three hits.
Barber was also the leading hitter for the Demons with a single and a triple, Parker DeCarlo had a double and a single, DaRon Sinceno had a double and Dalton Freeman had a single.
The Raiders were led by McCormick, Hayden Logsdon and Magee each with a double. Nick Duncan had a single and Christian Williams had two singles.
