Football fever seems to peak in the Franklinton area around Thanksgiving, and that’s the case this year.
The Franklinton High School Demons will be in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs this Friday night way up in far northwestern Louisiana.
The Demons will face a tough opponent Friday night, Division II #1 seed North DeSoto. As the #8 seed, the Demons are definitely the underdog, but Franklinton head coach Nick Saltaformaggio put it this way: “We're going to go up to North Desoto and I think when it’s Thanksgiving week you throw all of the seeds out the window, just line up and play football.”
The quarterfinal game will be played at North DeSoto High School, which is in Stonewall, near Shreveport --- approximately 5 hours from Franklinton.
The Demons made it into the quarterfinals with a big 40-14 defeat of Jennings in the 2nd round of the playoffs last Friday night at Demon Stadium.
The Demons won the state championship 15 years ago in 2010, and last year they were in the state championship game in the Superdome before falling to Cecilia.
