The Franklinton Lady Demons basketball team used a dominant fourth quarter to pull away from the Belle Chasse Lady Cardinals for a 37-25 victory last week.
Coach Atari Warners Lady Demons trailed 10-0 after the opening period and went into halftime down 12-9 after outscoring Belle Chasse 9-2. The Lady Demons still faced a nine-point deficit, 21-12, after three quarters before turning the game around in the final period.
Franklinton exploded for 22 points in the fourth quarter while holding Belle Chasse to just four points to secure the win.
Ella Hall led the Lady Demons with thirteen points. Akeilee McClain had seven points, Jazirya Toberts added six points, followed by Kayla Crosby with five. Alandria Warner scored four points and Kynaisha Abron finished with two.
The Lady Demons were 7-of-18 from the free-throw line, with 16 attempts coming in the fourth quarter. Belle Chasse finished 8-of-13 from the line for the game, with only four attempts in the final period.
Franklinton will play Independence on February 11 in a non-district matchup before hosting St. Scholastica on February 13 in district action. The Lady Demons are on the bubble for the non select Division II playoffs so every game is extremely important.
