The Franklinton Demons baseball team won their regular season opener last Monday at Demon Diamond, 13-0 in a run rule shortened game against the Kentwood Kangaroos.
The Kangaroos put a runner on in the first but he was thrown out attempting to steal second. This would be their only hit of the game. The Demons scored in the bottom of the first as Kaden Breaux drew a walk, was bunted over to second and drove home by Bryce Barber's single for a 1-0 lead.
The Demons added two more in the second as Dalton Freeman lead off with a triple before Cayman Pugh drew a walk. Parker DeCarlo hit a sacrifice fly to score Freeman before Thomassen drove in Pugh with a nice single for a 3-0 lead.
The Demons added five more in the third and five more in the fourth before the game was ended after Kentwood batted in the top of the fifth due to the run rule.
Jojo Burkhalter pitched four full innings for the Demons allowing a single hit, two base on balls and striking out eight. Kaedyn Jenkins pitched the fifth inning striking out all three batters he faced.
Bryce Barber was the Demons leading hitter with a double and two singles, while Dalton Freeman and Kaedyn Jenkins each tripled, while Parker DeCarlo, Da'Ron Sinceno and Jordy Thomassen each singled.
The Demons will be on the road vs St Martins on February 19, Riverdale on February 20 and Shaw February 21.
