The Franklinton Demons baseball team participated in the Belle Chasse tournament last week and came away with two wins and one loss moving their overall record to 4-3 overall. The Demons defeated the Shaw Eagles and the Riverdale Rebels and they were downed by St Martins.
The Demons took a 2-0 lead against Shaw on Saturday in the second as Kaden Breaux singled before Cayman Pugh hit a homerun to give them the opening lead. The Demons added six more runs in the third for a commanding 8-0 lead. The Eagles fought back for four runs in the fourth inning to make the score 8-4 but the Demons added another in the bottom of the inning for a 9-4 score.
The Eagles again fought back in the sixth to close the score to 9-8 as they hit a three run homerun in the inning. This time the Demons fought back as they scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 14-9 score. The Demons defense held this up in the top of the seventh to give the Demons a huge non-district win over the Eagles of Shaw.
The Demons were led offensively by Cayman Pugh with a homerun and two singles, Kaden Breaux had two singles, Jordy Thomassen had a single, Bryce Barber had a single and Kaedyn Jenkins had a single.
Jojo Burkhalter pitched four innings for the Demons against Shaw allowing six hits, walking one and striking out one. Kaden Breaux pitched two innings allowing three hits, walking two and striking out one while Kaedyn Jenkins pitched one inning with one hit and two walks.
The Demons will host their own tournament this weekend as they will face off with Bogalusa (4 p.m.) and Maurepas (6:30 p.m.) on Thursday, Sumner (6:30 p.m.) on Friday and Karr (5:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
