A well known Franklinton High School teacher has been arrested and charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Jeremy McKenzie, 48, was arrested on Wednesday of this week. Following his arrest he posted bond and was released.
McKenzie is an agriculture teacher and Future Farmers of America advisor at FHS. He is a graduate of Pine High School.
A spokesman for the Franklinton Police Department declined to expand on the original brief arrest report, explaining that the case is still under investigation. But other sources indicated that McKenzie is not charged with engaging in sex with a student, but rather with engaging in an inappropriate sexual conversation with a student.
The Washington Parish School System issued the following statement, declining any additional comment for now:
"The Washington Parish School Board takes any allegation involving the safety and well-being of a student very seriously. The matter is currently under investigation, and we will respect the legal process and refrain from commenting on specific details while the investigation is ongoing."
