The situation involving a well-known Franklinton High School teacher became worse today (Wednesday) with a new arrest.
Jeremy McKenzie, age 48, was arrested and booked this morning on charges of:
•Prohibited Sexual Contact between an educator and student;
•Intimidating, impeding, or injuring witnesses, injuring officers.
A month ago, McKenzie was arrested and charged with Indecent Behavior With A Juvenile.
The new charges are from a completely different investigation than the investigation that led to the original Indecent Behavior charge.
The new charges were filed by the Franklinton Police Department, which handled both investigations.
A reliable legal source indicated that the word “injuring” in today’s charges doesn’t mean physically injuring, but rather harming the ability of a witness to truthfully report facts, and harming the ability of an officer to perform his/her duties.
