The Franklinton Junior High Lady Falcons softball team was shut out by Madisonville last week, falling 13-0 in a three-inning contest.
Madisonville took control early, scoring six runs in the first inning and adding five more in the second. Two additional runs in the third inning ended the game.
Franklinton struggled offensively, finishing the game without a hit. Raylinn Hines reached base after drawing a walk and was the lone Lady Falcon to get on base. Parker Magee pitched the entire game for Franklinton, allowing five hits, while walks and defensive errors proved costly.
Head coach Lester Jenkins pointed to execution as the difference in the game. "From eighteen hits last week to zero hits today, pitching was the issue tonight," Jenkins said. "We only gave up five hits, but walks and errors, plus no hits, were our downfall today."
The Lady Falcons will look to rebound as they host Holden on February 9 before traveling to Lee Road on February 10.
