The Franklinton Junior High Falcons kicked off their season with a nice shutout win over the William Pitcher Panthers last Tuesday in Demon Stadium. The Falcons scored four times to win the game 26-0.
FJHS Coach Andy Creel saw positives from the game but also things to improve upon. "Always good to start the season off with a win, saw a lot of good things on film and a lot of things that we need to work on to get better."
The Falcons scored first when Jy'Quarious Dykes scored on a fourteen yard run with 3:26 left in the first. Jayden Clark was good on the extra point for a 7-0 lead.
Rashad Jackson scored in the second on a 13 yard run with 4:17 left in the second to put the Falcons up 14-0 after Clark's extra point was good.
The Falcons scored quickly on their next drive as Dykes scored from 40 yards out to put the Falcons up 20-0 at the halftime break.
The Falcons opened the second half with a six play, seventy yard drive that Dykes capped off with a 25 yard run. That gave the Falcons a 26-0 lead with 4:07 left in the third.
The second team Falcons finished out the game and held the Panthers out of the endzone to maintain the 26-0, which would be the final.
Jy'Quarious Dykes rushed five times for 123 yards and three touchdowns, Jyren Warren was 2 for 55, Knox Smith was 4 for 22, Rashad Jackson was 1 for 13 and touchdown, Kade Allen was 1 for10, Jaxen Magee was 1 for 4, Kendall VanSlyke was 1 for 0 and Kinoski Wilson was 1 for 1. Quarterback Dempsey Freeman rushed twice for 8 yards and was 0-1 passing.
The Falcons had three penalties in the game while the Panthers had one.
The Falcons will play Pine at Demon Stadium on September 1.
