The Franklinton Junior High Falcons football team won a big game last week against the Pine Junior High Raiders. The Falcons won the game 32-0 as they scored steadily throughout the game.
The Falcons recovered a fumble on Pines opening drive to give them a short field at the Raider 14. Knox Smith passed to Kingston Wilson for a 10 yard touchdown to put the Falcons up 6-0. After Pine punted the Falcons drove sixty yards to score as Ja'Quarious Dykes scored on a 30 yard run for a 12-0 score. This score would stand at halftime.
The Falcons opened the second half with the ball and drove 70 yards to score on a five yard run by Dykes to put the Falcons up 18-0 with 1:20 left in the third period.
The Falcons recovered another Raider fumble to again set them up on a short field at the Raiders 14. Dykes caught a 14 yard pass from Dempsey Freeman to put the Falcons up 24-0. After a Raiders punt the Falcons again scored with 2:06 left in the game on a Rashad Jackson 10 yard run for a 32-0 score. Kade Allen scored on the two point conversion. This would be the final score of the game.
"Proud of the way our guys played against a good, physical team. We challenged our team to improve from week one and we did that."
Franklinton's quarterback, Dempsey Freeman, was 4 of 7 passing for 99 yards and rushed for 16 on 2 carries. Knox Smith had 4 carries for 32 yards and passed once for a 10 yard touchdown. Jy'Quarious Dykes rushed 6 times for 81 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kade Allen rushed 3 times for 29 yards. Rashad Jackson rushed once for a 10 yard touchdown and had an interception.
For Pine Rex Jenkins rushed once for 5 yards, Kingston Lee rushed three times for 5 yards and Aiden Crain rushed three times for 3 yards. Lee was 1 of 5 passing for 2 yards with Addarrio Berry catching that pass.
Franklinton had nine penalties during the game to overcome while Pine had six.
Franklinton will play at Sumner on September 15. Pine will host Kentwood also on September 15.
