Winn-Dixie's Franklinton store was originally scheduled to close by the end of 2025 as part of the parent company's complete move out of Louisiana.
However, the closing date has now been pushed back, and the transition period will be brief before the new owner, Rouses Markets, opens.
Winn-Dixie of Franklinton will close on Thursday, January 25, 2026. The store will re-open a week later on Friday, February 2 as Rouses.
All Winn-Dixie employees at the Franklinton store are being offered employment with Rouses. During the one-week closure, those employees will be trained in the various Rouses policies and traditions, and they will assist in getting the store changed over from Winn-Dixie to Rouses.
One of the Rouses executives told The Era-Leader, "We are excited about Franklinton." The company expects their Franklinton store to be very successful, and they have been pleased and gratified with the welcome they have received here.
