What’s Going On
Talking about a July Celebration!
Cela Sibley, Gentris Brumfield, Ora Tate, Rayfus, James, and Ricardo Burris honored their mother of 81 years (Elaine Burris) with a two day birthday celebration. Mrs. Elaine stated that this would surely be one of her favorite memories of life. Family and friends came from far and near to join the birthday celebration. It was a pleasure to have all her children, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren together at one time. Her family from Texas and their children also attended the celebration. Family came from far and near and she enjoyed every minute.
Her sister in law (Brenda Burris) spoke of how she has always been a good and giving person. She has always been a giver and would give to anyone whether in need or not and she's still this way today. Each of her children and their children were represented in different colored shirts.
This made the siblings children easily recognizable for everyone. Mrs.Elaine stated that it was good to be together and it wasn’t a funeral gathering! If it’s God’s will she’s looking forward to next year’s celebration.
Sunlight COGIC held their Annual Community Giveaway. Elder Bennie Hart and 1st Lady Louise Hart were busy as always trying to make sure everyone had enough and more than enough to take home. Back to School bags, uniforms, appreciation bags for adults, snack bags, extra clothing, fresh vegetables, and much more were freely given to all who came.There was something for everyone. Their church members Pamela, Ms. Ethel Mae, and Mrs. Loucean helped assist in keeping the stations full. There were others that played a big role in making the event possible and a success. Thank God for the beautiful day and his bountiful blessings.

Upcoming Events
Vernon School Recreation Center which is now called the Neighborhood Christian Center of Louisiana will be selling Fish Dinners on July 23, 2021 for $10 a plate. Donations are welcomed (tax deductible) through Givelify (Neighborhood Christian Center of Louisiana). All funds raised will go to restoring the Vernon School.
