George L. (Joe) Dobie
June 6, 1935 – March 23, 2026
Joe Dobie was a native of Eldorado Arkansas. He died peacefully Monday March 23, 2026, at Riverside Hospital at the age of 90.
Joe was born in Eldorado Arkansas June 6, 1935 to Walter & Ruth Dobie. He was the third son. Joe attended Eldorado Arkansas and graduated in 1953 as the president of his senior class. He went on to Centenary Collage located in Shreveport, LA. in 1953 joining his older brothers Walter and Jim. He was a member of the college band where he played the French horn. He was also an active member of the Centenary college choir along with his brothers. In the fall of 1954, he and his brother Walter went to the College of Colorado School of Mines for further study in geology. In the fall of 1955, he returned to Centenary College graduating in 1957. Joe then joined the army in the third army band. Following his completion of his stent in the army he attended LSU in Baton Rouge, LA for agronomy. In 1962 Joe married Jackie Ott from Mt. Hermon, LA.
Joe was a salesman for feed company in Amarillo, TX and New Orleans, LA. He later was a dairyman and later an owner of a feed company in Folsom, LA.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruth Dobie, his brothers Jim and Walter Dobie. He was also preceded by his beloved wife of 64 years Jackie Dobie.
Joe is survived by: his sister Mary Ruth Dobie, his three children, Leslie Dobie, Katie Mercer (Shawn Mercer), and David Dobie (Kathy Dobie). He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren; Danny Cannatella (Kaitlin Cannatella), Anna Claire Brown (Wesley Brown), Matt Mercer (Emily Rigney), Kimberly, Conner and Emma Dobie. He also had a great grandson, Jack Brown. His sister in laws Ann Dobie (Walter Dobie) and Wanda Dobie (Jim Dobie). His niece and nephews, Bruce Dobie, Charles Dobie (Dawn), Greg Dobie and Laura Walker (Scott Walker).
There will be a private service with family only. In lieu of flowers please give a donation to the Mt. Hermon Methodist church.
Joe will be missed greatly, but we know he is with his lord in heaven and beloved wife Jackie.
