The Washington Parish Grand Jury has indicted a 51 year old Franklinton man who is accused of supplying a drug that contributed to the death of Parish School Board member Frankie Crosby last October.
Dayon Dyson, of Franklinton, was indicted for second degree murder and distribution of fetanyl by the Grand Jury last week.
Dyson was charged with the offenses last December after Crosby was found dead on October 6 , 2024 in a truck parked at his Franklinton residence.
It was determined by the Washington Parish Coroner that Crosby’s death was the result of combined drug toxicity, with both cocaine and fentanyl being identified in his system.
Law enforcement, in investigating the death, learned of Dyson’s alleged involvement and he was arrested on December 7, 2024, charged with second degree murder and districution of fetanyl. The investigation was a joint effort of the Louisiana State Police, the Franklinton Police Department, and the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.
A trial date has not been set for Dyson but it is expected that his case will come up in court later this year.
Crosby was the Washington Parish School Board member for District 8 and was serving his second term at the time of his death. A special election is set for this coming Saturday, March 29, to elect a replacement for Crosby.
