Last Thursday morning the Harvey Road Bridge over Hays Creek was officially dedicated in honor of the late Deacon Hayward Partman.
Washington Parish President Ryan Seal told those gathered for the dedication that Partman was known as a husband, a father, and a faithful servant of his church.
Seal said, “His legacy continues to shape Washington Parish, and it is only fitting that this bridge --- one he helped advocate to rebuild following Hurricane Katrina --- now bears his name.”
Partman family members also spoke of Deacon Partman, recalling his strong faith and his continuous community service. It was noted that Hayward Partman was a prime reason that the bridge was rebuilt after Hurricane Katrina --- he continued to constantly advocate for the rebuilding.
It was also pointed out that Parish Council Chairman Reginald McMasters helped lead the effort to have the bridge renamed in honor of Deacon Partman.
