Well, football fans, it's back! The long wait is over, and we're diving headfirst into a brand-new season filled with promise and possibility. There's something magical about the start of football season-hope is in the air, every scoreboard reads zeroes, and the playing field is level for all. Every team is undefeated, and optimism is everywhere, from the locker rooms to the bleachers. Coaches are fired up, players are locked in, and our communities are coming together to support their hometown heroes under the Friday night lights. There's nothing quite like that first kickoff of the year.
Personally, I'm just excited to be at a game somewhere, soaking in all the sights, sounds and even the smells. It's more than just football, it's tradition, excitement, and pure joy wrapped in every moment spent in those bleachers. There's no place like it.
I truly wish your team all the best this season and may the ball bounce your way.
Game of the Week - Bowling Green (0-0) at ACCS (0-0) These two teams played to open the 2023 season with ACCS handling the Bucs 41-2. The Bucs obviously went on to have a good season but they haven't forgotten. ACCS is generally a solid team and likely will be again, while the Bucs have had some changes. A new head coach who isn't exactly new will put his own stamp on this version of the Bucs and will look to get off to a good start to the 2025 season. The heat will likely be a factor so the best conditioned team may have an advantage.
Notes and quotes
The MAIS (the independent school association that Bowling Green and Ben's Ford are members) has made changes to their football playoff brackets. For each classification there will be two separate playoffs and champions. The top four seeds in each classification will be placed in a playoff bracket with those four teams only vying for a championship. The other eight teams, seeded five to twelve, will be placed in their own playoff bracket and will play for a separate championship. These will be called Division I and Division II.
"All around proud of the whole team effort. They were scrappy and played physical. I thought we did a very good job on all three phases of the game from offense, defense and special teams. I love how this group just continues to give maximum effort on the field and that's what they did in the scrimmage."
--- Dean King, Bowling Green head coach on their three way scrimmage last week.
"We came out firing on all cylinders on offense. We did whatever we wanted to on the ground all night. Dash Houston had a big night rushing but the offensive line made it easy for him with their blocking up front. Defensively we had two blown coverages that gave up the first two touchdowns and then the third touchdown they scored we were being very sloppy on defense. We fixed something at halftime and shut them out the second half. I am proud of our guys; we were definitely in better shape which ultimately made the difference."
---Destin Pittman, Bens Ford head coach
