Joseph Wayne Cox, 78, a resident of the Stoney Point Community passed away Friday March 6, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 14, 1947 and graduated from Chesbrough High School Class of 1967. After graduation, Wayne joined the United States Navy during the Vietnam War era. He was an airplane mechanic stationed in Hawaii, before completing his military service in 1972. He worked for many years as a cross-country truck driver, hauling chemical tankers to all parts of the country. Wayne was a longtime member of Stoney Point Missionary Baptist Church. He had an extensive coin collection, that he accumulated nearly all his life. He enjoyed playing dominoes and Rook, often with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he loved gardening. Wayne liked to Bar-B-Que and loved eating delicious homemade ice cream. He cherished all the time spent with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leo Cox and Eloise McDaniel Cox, brother Wilvie Cox, brother and sister in law Harold and Jean Cox, his grandparents and other family members.
Visitation will be at Stoney Point Missionary Baptist Church (37038 Hwy. 10, Franklinton) on Sunday March 8th from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 3:00 pm Sunday with Bro. Brent King, Bro. Don McDaniel and Bro. Bryce Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
