Game of the Week - Kentwood (0-1) at Sumner (1-0) This is a rivalry that often gets overlooked when you consider the other rivalries in Tangipahoa parish. These teams are close in distance and the players and students know each other well. Both teams would like nothing better than to beat the people they know and all of whom have been talking trash on social media.
Theres also the records of the teams. Kentwood does not want to dig themselves into an 0-2 hole and have to dig out in order to make the playoffs. Sumner wants to continue the roll they have been on with a 2-0 record. Kentwood is always loaded with talent and Sumner returns a ton of players from their 11-2 season in 2024. Coaching experience will be a huge factor in this one.
Should be a good one.
Notes and quotes
"We've got to run the ball better. We're a big play offense. We have to find a way to grind it out. When you're up 20-0 to start the second half and then score to make it 26-0 you have to find a way to have some four to six minute drives and we're not able to do that right now."
---Nick Saltaformaggio, Franklinton head coach.
"We did what we wanted to do, start the season 1-0 and we were able to get some of our young guys some good reps. I do think our focus and attention to detail needs to be better at times. Our schedule is going to get tougher over the next couple of weeks and we have to clean up our mistakes."
---Bradley Seal, Pine head coach.
"We came out aggressive! Our guys were giving effort and playing hard. At the half our guys came out and played hard in the second half and showed no quit!"
---Dean King, Bowling Green head coach.
"I believe last night was our best all around game. We were very balanced on offense and didn't really get behind the chains which was big. Defensively we got big stops and turnovers when we needed them."
---Destin Pittman, Bens Ford head coach
