Parish Playoff Picture - We begin this week looking at the playoff picture of the parish teams. While the picture is still a little fuzzy, some team’s outlooks are better than others.
Remember that the top 28 teams qualify for the playoffs and the top 16 teams host in the first round. All home playoff games are determined by the highest seed.
Franklinton is in decent shape at 18 in non-select Division II but they still need wins to solidify a playoff spot. Also they could move up to host a playoff game with a few wins.
Pine, with a 5-2 record is low at 20 in non-select Division III and needs more wins to solidify a playoff spot. Two of their remaining three games are winnable and that would do the trick.
Bogalusa is not in good shape at all at 39 and desperately needs to win games. Likely they would need to win all three remaining games to qualify for the playoffs.
Varnado is at 33 in non-select Division IV. They could mathematically slip in with two wins in their remaining games while three wins would almost guarantee a playoff spot. Two losses would be devastating to their chances.
Game of the Week - Bogalusa (2-4)) at Loranger (0-7) The Lumberjacks have been on the verge of breaking through as they navigate their tough schedule. They also need wins to make the playoffs. The Loranger Wolves are just what the doctor ordered. If the Jacks can get this victory over a wounded Wolves team it would go a long way to improving their playoff possibilities and also gaining some respect.
Should be a good one!

Notes and Quotes
Capitol High and Thrive Academy's football seasons are over after a brawl that occurred at the end of their game last week. The LHSAA punished Capitol by forfeiting their season while Thrive ended their own season.
"I felt like we had a good football team. We were just doing things that bad football teams do like turnovers, giving up onside kicks and losing halftime leads. I have a saying, 'no one remembers the halftime score'. We told our kids all week long that the team that beat Covington and destroyed Pine, we need to get back to that. We had a good week of practice and it showed. We're going to be a tough out if we can get in. We just have to keep on keeping on." ---Franklinton coach Nick Saltaformaggio
"It was a good win for our team. All three phases played well. Now it's time to move on to Amite. They are a talented team and we need to have a good week of practice."
---Pine coach Bradley Seal
"Lumberjacks played hard and fought for the entire game against a physical Sumner team. With three games left in district play the Jacks will look to improve weekly as they've done all season." ---Bogalusa coach Larry Harold
"Big win for our team last night on the road. I'm proud of the coaches and players. They worked hard this week and it showed last night. Just a great night for Buccaneer football. Proud of them!" -
---Bowling Green coach Dean King
"The guys played hard and we know every time we play Prentiss it is going to be a tough game because we know each other so well. But we were able to pull away and keep a lead in the second half. Now we move to the district championship game this week at home against Newton." ---Bens Ford coach Destin Pittman
