Franklinton, Pine and Bowling Green remain alive in the state football playoffs following Friday night's games.
Franklinton had a bye, Bowling Green won a tight game against Winston-Academy, and Pine easily beat St. Helena.
Both Varnado and Bogalusa lost their first-round games, ending their 2024 seasons.
---Franklinton will open playoff action this coming Friday night at home. The Demons are the #1 seed in the LHSAA Division II non-select state playoffs. With a 9-1 record, FHS is enjoying its strongest football season in years and a standing room only crowd is expected at Demon Stadium this coming Friday night for the second round game. The Demons will host #16 seed W. Feliciana, which won its first round game Friday (Nov. 15) over Carroll, 50-29. W. Feliciana is now 7-4 on the season.
---Bowling Green won a very tough game vs Winston Academy Friday night, and now advances to the MAIS state finals. The Bucs took a hard fought 14-10 win over Winston Academy. In the state championship game Friday evening (Nov. 22), it will be deja vu for Bowling Green, which for the second straight year will face Tri County Academy for the championship. Last year the Bucs fell to Tri County and they are itching for another chance, which they will have this Friday evening. Tri County is 12-0 on the season going into the championship game. Once again, the championship game will be played at Jackson Academy in Jackson, Mississippi, beginning at 7 p.m.
---Pine captured a big victory Friday night at Raider Stadium, defeating St. Helena 40-16. The Raiders now move into the second round this coming Friday night against Kaplan, the #8 seed. Kaplan defeated North Webster 50-0 to advance. Kaplan has 8 wins and 2 losses for the 2024 season. The game will be held at Kaplan High School, about 3 hours from Pine. Kaplan is located southwest of Lafayette.
---Varnado closed out its 2024 season with a 61-0 loss at Logansport.
---Bogalusa also ended its season with its first round 37-12 loss to Lakeside.
