Game of the Week - Amite (4-2) at Pine (5-1). This game could be a really good game and the winner will have solid leverage over the district lead. Amite struggled early in the season while Pine has been rolling all season and this game will tell if Amite has gotten back to form and will tell if Pine is a contender. Amite is fast and physical while Pine has been physical as well and has shown they are still contenders for a deep playoff run.
Should be a good one.
Notes and Quotes
"We're fighters. I told them at halftime that we've been in this every week. This is why we play the kind of schedule we play. If you're not in it you don't know how to handle it. Our kids are resilient and they're tough. They're tough. Tough teams win football games. And that's what I take out of it. Tough teams win football games and that's what we have. We still shoot ourselves in the foot. We're good at fifteen yard penalties. We love them. We are on the road next week, Fair week. We have to focus and compartmentalize what we are doing and realize what's at stake, because there is a lot at stake." ---Nick Saltaformaggio, Franklinton coach
"Our defense played very well. A fumble and kick return gave Albany the ball on our side of the field twice and our defense held. They have really played well all year and they have to play well next week against Amite. It will be an exciting game next week." ---Bradley Seal, Pine coach.
"We came out clicking on offense in the first half and played very clean. We have to clean some things up on special teams but we have to get ready to play for the district championship this coming week. That is where our main focus is right now." ---Destin Pittman, Bens Ford coach
"We are extremely proud of our young men and the way they competed last night. They could've folded early going down 14 to nothing but that didn't happen. They showed resilience and fight and got the job done. Rayden Raybourn was outstanding and his 97 yard kickoff return was a big turning point in the game. No rest for the weary. Got to turn around and get ready for Oak Forest." ---Phill Junkins, Bowling Green coach
