In a ceremony recognizing exceptional contributions to Louisiana's tourism and outdoor recreation, Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser presented two prestigious Spotlight Awards at the recent Louisiana Travel Association (LTA) Travel Summit held in Shreveport, August 27-29. The awards were given to Toby Cortez and Robbie Slaton, both of whom have played pivotal roles in enhancing the visitor experience at Bogue Chitto State Park.
Toby Cortez was honored for his outstanding work on the mountain bike trails within Bogue Chitto State Park. His efforts in developing and maintaining these trails have not only attracted mountain biking enthusiasts from across the region but have also contributed significantly to the park's popularity as a premier outdoor destination. Cortez's dedication to creating a challenging yet accessible trail system has made Bogue Chitto a go-to spot for adventure seekers looking to explore Louisiana's natural beauty on two wheels.
Robbie Slaton received recognition for her tireless work with the Friends of Bogue Chitto State Park, particularly her contributions to the park's horse trails. Slaton's passion for equestrian activities and her commitment to preserving and promoting the horse trails have made a lasting impact on the park's offerings. Through her leadership, the Friends of Bogue Chitto State Park have organized numerous events and volunteer efforts that have enhanced the trails, making them more enjoyable for riders and helping to draw more visitors to the park.
Lt. Governor Nungesser praised both awardees for their dedication and contributions.
