Fair Season officially begins in Washington Parish with the traditional Fair Flag Ceremony, which will be held Friday in front of the courthouse in Franklinton. (A similar ceremony will be held in Bogalusa on Thursday.)
The event begins at 10 a,m, and everyone is invited and urged to attend.
Meanwhile, fair officers and volunteers are in the final stages of preparation for the 2022 Washington Parish Fair, which is now just three weeks away.
Following the damage at the Fairgrounds last year from a tornado, vandalism, and Hurricane Ida, volunteers have worked steadily to repair the buildings and grounds. Of the many repaired and updated structures, one of the most notable to fairgoers in October will be the Sylvest Cabin, which became almost an icon of the damage suffered last year at the fairgrounds. Today, the cabin is totally repaired and awaits the upcoming fair.
