Game of the Week - Franklinton (3-3) at Pearl River (4-2). The winner of this game could take the lead in the district or at minimum a share with Lakeshore so it is a big game. The Demons could win their third in a row this season for the first time since week five of 2019 and the momentum would do them a ton of good for their team as they progress through the district towards the playoffs.
Pearl River is in year one of a new coach and system as well and need to win this one for power points as they get into the meat of the district schedule. The Rebels would love to run their back, Brian Jenkins for 200 yards again like he had last week but the Demons defense isn’t going to let him sneak up on them.
Should be a good one.
Notes and Quotes
“Happy for the win; however, there are things that we really need to clean up as we move closer to the playoffs. We have a lot of penalties; two touchdowns were called back. These are things that can be corrected.” Franklinton head coach Guy Lecompte
“It’s a disappointing loss. We had critical mistakes that you can’t make and expect to win a district game. Two fumbles deep in the opponent’s territory and a big kick. We out gained them by 100 yards but made mistakes at bad times in the game.” Pine head coach Bradley Seal
“We played in a hard fought game last night. An offensive loaded game that came down to who had the ball last and we fell short.” Bens Ford head coach Destin Pittman
“Again, amazing atmosphere and a big time rivalry game but we started slow and that was scary. After the half we settled down and played our game which led to solid success in all three phases of the game. Real proud of how we handled the rivalry game and executed down the stretch. We are sitting at 5-1 and still have a lot of growth ahead of us and can’t wait to watch it happen.” Denham Springs head coach Brett Beard
“Proud of the way we played. To go on the road and get a shut out is big for where we are on our program.” Pearl River head coach Eric Collins
“Bogalusa is the best overall team we played this year. Their quarterback is special and he can do it all. They jumped out on us 20-0 first half but we settled ad made it a game in the second half. Our kids battled but we came up short. Kudos to coach Crutchfield and his staff at Bogalusa.” Amite head coach Zephaniah Powell
