A 50-year-old Franklinton man has been arrested and charged with supplying the illegal drugs that apparently caused the death of a Washington Parish School Board member.
Dayon Dyson has been charged with Second Degree Murder and distribution of fentanyl. Additional charges are anticipated, police said. Dyson is being held in the Washington Parish Jail.
On Sunday morning, October 6, School Board member Frankie Crosby, 67, was found dead in his truck near his home on Parker Street in Franklinton. Initial findings indicated that Crosby’s death was the result of an overdose.
After Crosby was discovered dead, Franklinton Police Chief Justin Brown requested the investigative assistance of the Louisiana State Police.
The Louisiana State Police served as the lead agency in the investigation of Crosby’s death, working together with the Franklinton Police Department, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and the 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
The Louisiana State Police released a statement concerning the investigation and the impact of fentanyl.
The statement reads:
“This case exemplifies the critical importance of collaboration among law enforcement agencies. Through the combined efforts of the Louisiana State Police, Franklinton Police Department, the 22nd Judicial District Court District Attorney’s Office, and the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, we remain committed to addressing the devastating impact of fentanyl in our communities. Together, we are taking decisive steps to crack down on fentanyl-related cases and ensure the safety of our citizens.”
