For the second year in a row, Franklinton resident and business owner Breann H. Holobaugh became the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation World Master Champion. This is a BJJ competition where the best fighters in the world come to compete for the World Title. She is the currently ranked #1 Master Light-Feather weight champion of the World in her division. Breann was promoted to purple belt on the podium after winning her Worlds competition in Las Vegas on September 3, 2022.
Breann along with her husband Kurt Holobaugh, own and operate Gracie United Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym locations here in Franklinton, and Amite. Kurt is a black belt in Jiu Jitsu and has had many accomplishments as an MMA fighter. He has fought all over the world for major promotions like the UFC, Titan, and XFC. This husband and wife duo have touched many lives in our community with their commitment to help others. They are great leaders in the community and enjoy sharing their knowledge of Jiu Jitsu. They also offer kickboxing, MMA training, boxing, as well as others forms of self defense classes. Breann is the head instructor of the Woman's Only program at Gracie United which is every Wednesday at 11 am.
Breann is a 2010 graduate of Albany High School where she received a softball scholarship to attend Pensacola State.
From there she went on to McNeese State University to earn a Bachelors Degree in Psychology with a Concentration in Education.
Breann is very proud to represent Washington Parish on such a large platform for this sport and is looking forward to representing the community again in the upcoming months as she makes her way to Texas for the next IBJJF competition.
