The National Day of Prayer will be observed in Franklinton on Thursday, May 2 at 12 noon at the big flagpole on Main Street.
Chairman of the Franklinton observance this year is the Rev. Cecil Locke of Centerary Methodist Church.
The theme of the National Day of Prayer this year is “Lift Up The Word -- Light Up The World.”
The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
Everyone is invited to meet at the big flagpole on Thursday to join in prayer.
