Parish Playoff Picture - Our first look at the actual playoffs after the picture has come fully into focus for the Washington Parish teams.
Franklinton is the division two 20 seed and will be on the road at 13 seeded Cecilia which has a 7-3 record. The winner of this game will travel to play North Desoto.
Pine is the 8 seed in division three and will play 25 seed Westlake at home this Friday. The winner of that game will play the winner of the 9 Rosepine - 24 Red River game. If Pine wins, they would host Rosepine but travel to Red River.
Bogalusa is the two seed in division three and has a bye in week one. They will play the winner of 15 Sumner and 18 Berwick at Bogalusa in week two.
Varnado is the 24 seed in division four and will travel to 9 seed Welsh. If Varnado is successful there they would host the winner of the 8 Oak Grove - 25 Centerville game.
Notes and Quotes
Because I know there is going to be confusion, let me attempt to explain some things for the LHSAA playoffs. There are no more 4A, 3A, 2A etc. classifications. They took the five classes and lumped them together, divided them by four instead of five by enrollment and renamed them divisions with Division 1 being the largest. Also, there will only be 28 teams per division make the playoffs for football and the top four teams will have a bye week.
"Looks like we will play Westlake. They are a good team, with a very talented wide receiver. We will have to play well in all phases." Pine head coach Bradley Seal
"We moved the ball but had three turnovers that killed drives. You can't turn the ball over on a team that's 8-1 and expect to win. The good news is we are going to make the playoffs and I think it's the first time since 2017 when I was a coordinator here. Bad news is we have a lot of kids who have a lot of appointments during the week especially during practice times. We have doctor appointments, dentist appointments even hair appointments. In life you have to prioritize things. My old coach used to say 'God, family and football.' Those things that you put as high priorities you are more successful at. We have to do a better job with our priorities here in order to become better. Everyone wants to win but everyone doesn't like doing what it takes to win. We have a virtual day and a holiday coming up this week. Hopefully we can make football a high priority and do what it takes this week to get a win. If not, we will have plenty of time for our appointments next week because its win or go home from here on out." Varnado head coach Adam Brumfield
"Three headed monster rushing attack led by Christian Smith, Zaire Rogers and Derrion Martin paced our offense running behind a good physical offensive line push. Rushed for over 250 yards and each back had a score. Jalen Robinson played flawless and he also scored a touchdown as well. Defensively we played solid but Sumner is hard to defend with their offensive strategy. We are still a work in progress on special teams but overall, we played well." Amite head coach Zephaniah Powell
"Proud of our players and coaches. This was a big win for us. It was a playoff game and our kids stepped up." Pearl River head coach Eric Collins
