Picture-perfect weather and an enthusiastic but peaceful group of attendees made the recent Washington Parish Fair one of the best ever.
Both Sheriff Randy Seal and Franklinton Police Chief Justin Brown said there were no major incidents during the Fair.
"All in all, it was a relatively quiet Fair," stated Sheriff Randy Seal. "It was so good to see families enjoying this wonderful annual event. I applaud all the volunteers who spent countless hours making our Fair a success."
Brown agreed, saying that his officers were confronted with only routine, minor incidents.
“We had noting major,” he said. “Four fights, one theft, and a few vehicle accidents.”
“It was quiet and peaceful...a very good Fair,” he added.
Seal, the Sheriff, said his deputies made only five arrests during the entire Fair.
On October 22, deputies arrested Anthony Jerome Turner, 20, a resident of Hickory Avenue in Bogalusa, and booked him into the Washington Parish Jail on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon. Turner was discovered with a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol concealed in his waistband.
Turner was released on October 23 after posting a $7,500 bond.
A juvenile also was arrested on October 22 on a charge of carrying a concealed pistol. Because of his juvenile status, his name and address cannot be released.
