Parish Playoff Picture - Our final look at the playoff picture for the four public school teams. Still a lot on the line this week.
Franklinton is currently at #17 in division 2. A win would likely put them in the top 16 and a home first round playoff game. A loss would drop them and they would have a first round road game. If they end up anywhere between 17-20 they would be on the road in round two also, even if they pull the upset in round one. This is due to seeds 1-4 having a bye in round one.
Pine is in good shape at #8 in division 3. They have an open date this week so they won't move much but could move a little depending on the teams around them and if those teams win or lose. However, they will be at home in round one.
Bogalusa is in excellent shape at #2 in division 3. They are the favorite this week and have a lot of emotional factors so they are likely to beat Albany. If they win, they should remain in the top 4 and receive a bye in the first round. They would then host (if allowed) a second round playoff game. If they lose to Albany, they may fall out of the top four but still host (if allowed) a first round playoff game.
Varnado is still on the bubble at #28 in division 4. They need a win to solidify a top 28 spot and a playoff game. A loss this week would probably negate their chances.
Notes and Quotes
The Carroll head football coach along with eight of his assistants have been suspended for the remainder of the football season after an altercation with sheriff’s deputies at their game with Franklin Parish two weeks ago. The head coach and two assistants have also been arrested for charges stemming from that altercation. Carroll is currently undefeated on the season and they have six other assistants who were not suspended who will coach the team for the remainder of the season.
"Happy for the win but there are things we need to improve on to make a playoff run." ---Franklinton head coach Guy Lecompte
"Bogalusa has a real good team. They got off to a fast start and we never recovered. But going forward we have a bye week and then the playoffs. We will be at home the first round and that's where our focus will be." --- Pine head coach Bradley Seal
"Key turnovers that turned into points was the difference in the game. Kids played with great effort so we have a lot to build on. Our seniors are special. They stuck with it and created excitement in our school." --- Bowling Green head coach Phill Junkins
"We came out and played a good tough game. We were down at halftime and then came out in the third quarter, battled back and took the lead but just lost it right at the end. I am proud of my boys for taking the next step this season and I believe the future is bright." ---Bens Ford head coach Destin Pittman
"We started slow and got into a hole but our kids came out the second half and caught fire and made an amazing comeback. It was a lot of fun to watch and so proud of how they responded, definitely a lot of growth form one week to the next. To be down 17 in the fourth and fight back will go down as one of this group's greatest wins." --- Denham Springs head coach Brett Beard
