The National Weather Service is predicting some bone chilling temperatures ahead in the Franklinton area!
Thursday night, Friday night, and Saturday night (January 20, 21, 22) the temperature will drop below freezing. WATCH FOR POSSIBLE ICE.
Residents need to keep in mind the three P's: People, Pets, Pipes. Make sure vulnerable people are safe from the cold; bring pets indoors or make sure they can get warm; and run water to prevent freezing of pipes if necessary.
Thursday night's predicted low will be 29 degrees. Friday night's predicted low will be 25 degrees. Saturday night's predicted low will be 27 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Ice is possible Thursday night and Friday night so be aware and be careful of possible slick spots and icy bridges while driving.
By Sunday night there will be a slight thawing, with the low predicted to be 32 degrees.
The extra low temperatures can put a strain on heating systems. Take all necessary precautions to protect yourself and your family from fire dangers. In particular, if using space heaters to supplement your heat, make certain that they are being operated safely. In addition, test all smoke alarm batteries.
