The Franklinton Mayor and Board of Aldermen will hold a mandated Town Hall meeting on August 27 to discuss the housing situation in the community.
In a statement, the town government wrote, “The town of Franklintion invites and encourages residents and community leaders to attend and speak to the Board of Aldermen and mayor about the housing needs of Franklinton and to propose potential solutions.”
The meeting is required as part of a settlement the Town of Franklinton recently reached with the U.S. Department of Justice concerning a fair housing violation that allegedly occurred some years ago. While the violation is not blamed on the current Board of Mayor and Aldermen, they are required as part of the settlement to hold this meeting and listen to residents speak out concerning Franklinton’s housing needs. All town residewnts are invited.
The August 27 meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. in Town Hall, 301 11th Avenue.
