The Town of Franklinton’s water system has received a preliminary A grade for 2022 from the Louisiana Department of Health.
The grading system looks at items such as whether water quality meets state and federal standards, does the water system have a qualified operator, were water outages and boil notices reported, was the system’s audit acceptable, and are there any unresolved significant deficiencies.
While the A grade is preliminary, it still was a relief for Franklinton officials, because of some residents’ concerns following boil water advisories in November and December of 2022. Problems at the town’s Mason Street well caused the boil water advisories, which were in effect from November 27 until November 29, and from December 3 until December 6.
However, Franklinton Public Works Director Reginald McMasters said the boil water advisories were a result of an abundance of caution. He said there were no problems with the town’s water quality.
