Last Thursday (September 11) at approximately 5:17 PM, the Franklinton Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting near the intersection of Williams Street and Ridge Court.
Upon arrival, responding officers learned the victim, later identified as a 16-year-old minor, had been transported by private vehicle to Riverside Medical Center.
The investigation revealed that the shooting occurred during a dice game involving several juveniles at a residence on Williams Street. Multiple witnesses identified the suspected shooter as Darrin Dykes, age 18, of Thomas Cryer Road in the Mount Hermon area.
The 16-year-old minor sustained gunshot wounds which were determined to be non-life-threatening by medical personnel.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Dykes and he was located the next day and taken into custody without incident. He is being held at the Washington Parish Jail with his bond set at $150,000.
