Less than a third of adults in Washington Parish are fully vaccinated, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
Low vaccination percentages are worrisome to health officials because of the expected impact of the Delta variant of Coronavirus.
Statewide, 35.5% of adults are fully vaccinated, compared to the U.S. percentage of 47.9%. States in the southeastern United States are among the lowest in terms of how many adults are vaccinated.
In Washington Parish, vaccination levels are even lower than the statewide average. 28.8% of Washington Parish adults were fully vaccinated as of July 1, while 31.33% of parish adults have had at least one dose of the vaccine.
That compares to St. Tammany Parish, where 40% of adults are fully vaccinated and 42.5% of adults have had at least one dose of the vaccine.
