Editor, The Era-Leader:
The Franklinton Chamber of Commerce has not had a general membership meeting in quite a while, but, the membership has still been active! We have had some changes in executive board, which were approved at the Executive Board Meeting on August 3, 2021. Alderman Seth Descant has stepped down as President and into the Ex-Officio role. Lee Kelley has stepped up as President from the Vice President position and will finish Seth’s term. We will hold a general election at that time. Stuart Varnado has stepped into the Vice President position until we hold a general election.
The FCC was able to provide a $1000 scholarship to Franklinton High School Senior, Aden Hartzog. In conjunction with Footprints to Pathways, the Chamber and its members were able to raise and donate $990 to The Parent Group. They are a nonprofit organization who raises money for the Franklinton High School basketball team. Matching uniforms were the focus of this event and we were thrilled how many chamber members wanted to participate. The Parent Group is still in need of additional funding, as this donation only placed a dent in the budget requirements, so anyone interested in donating, please contact Lee Kelley.
The FCC is actively involved in welcoming new businesses to the town and holding a ribbon cutting ceremony. Although we may have to do a photo op until Covid has subsided, we still want to welcome any new businesses to Franklinton! Two recent new additions to our business community are Chiffarobe and Bleu Rx Solutions. Chiffarobe is an upscale men’s and women’s clothing and accessory store, just across from the courthouse. There are numerous options for both men and women, dressy or casual. Bleu Rx Solutions is a one-stop shop for skincare and anti-aging treatments. From facials, to botox, to purchasing skincare products, Franklinton is excited to have these services locally.
Lastly, the FCC is always looking to add members! Anyone interested in joining the Chamber, please contact Lee Kelley. We are hoping to get regular meetings started again once this virus surge has subsided. We will send out membership renewal forms as well as advertising renewal forms before the end of the year. Come join the Chamber and let us make a difference here in Franklinton!
