The Washington Parish Tourism Commission met with the Washington Parish Council recently to introduce the newly hired Office Manager.
President of the commission, Henry Harrison gave a short statement on the direction of the commission, to Move Washington Parish Forward through Tourism. He call upon the commissioners present to introduce themselves to the council. Present from the Tourism Commission were: Ella R. Bickham, Loraine B. Hall, outgoing Manager Kathy Mayor and Patricia "Patty" Alford, the new Office Manager.
Other commissioners not present are: Cynthia August, Mark Irvine, Phyllis Sampere, and Debora Brumfield.
The parish council members wished them well and are looking forward to working with tourism to make Washington Parish that tourist destination with all the parish has to offer.
The tourism commissioners provided some refreshment to all that attended the meeting and Patty provided lapel pins of tourism for the parish to council members and others.
Patty is asking the citizens of the parish to come and visit the tourism office located at 1950 Washington Street with ideas, comments and other support to help showcase our parish. The office will be open 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, telephone 985-839-5228.
