The 2021 Mile Branch Spelling Bee at the Washington Parish Fair will be sponsored by Kappa Kappa lota / lota Chapter; Delta Kappa Gamma / Beta Rho Chapter; and the Washington Parish Reading Council.
Spelling Bee chairperson is Carolyn McElveen and committee members are Joan Kennedy, Phyllis Thomas and Toni Tageant.
Here is Spelling Bee information:
All participants must wear a mask.
Contestants must be a resident of Washington Parish.
Contestants are encouraged to dress in pioneer attire; this is not mandatory.
Each school will select a winner and alternate from this school year from the fifth and sixth grades. The names of each winner and alternate must be received by October 15, 2021. The chairperson at each school is responsible for submitting the names to the Spelling Bee Chairperson. Names of the contestants (winners and alternates) must be emailed to carolynmcelveen@gmail.com
The words will be selected from state approved spellers.
The Spelling Bee will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 21, 2021 in the Old Mt. Hermon School at Mile Branch Settlement. Please be present by 3:45. Pictures will be made at the end of the Spelling Bee.
