A former dispatcher for the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Franklinton Police Department was killed in a house fire late Monday afternoon.
Sandra “Chris” Morgan, 63, died in the fire at 800 Varnado Street in Franklinton.
Firefighters were called to the apartment at the rear of the house at approximately 4:30 Monday afternoon. Ms Morgan was found inside the apartment and was rushed to the hospital, where she passed away.
Investigators with the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office have determined that the fire began on the back porch. As of early this week the investigation into the cause of the fire was continuing.
Ms Morgan was known to many local law enforcement officers due to her work as a dispatcher for both the Sheriff’s Office and the Police Department. Franklinton Police Chief Justin Brown said he had worked with Ms Morgan when they were both with the Sheriff’s Office, and later when they were both with the Franklinton Police Department.
Funeral services for Ms Morgan were set for Thursday, February 13 at 11:00 a.m. in the Springhill-Magee Cemetary.
